SHANGHAI, April 20, 2021 – Novelis, the global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, will showcase its portfolio of cutting-edge automotive aluminum solutions for the local market at Auto Shanghai 2021, reaffirming its commitment to transforming the industry with its innovative solutions for lighter, more fuel-efficient and better performing vehicles. As part of Novelis’ plan to transform the industry with more sustainable solutions, the company is planning to implement China’s first world-class closed-loop recycling system in Zhenjiang, enabling recycling of aluminum and helping customers meet their sustainability targets.

This comes as Novelis recently took a leap forward in fulfilling its ambition to bring the industry and society toward a more sustainable future that meets the requisites of a circular economy. On January 2021, Novelis completed the expansion of the Changzhou plant for its new heat treatment line, doubling the capacity to produce automotive aluminum products. With the new cutting-edge line, the plant can now produce an additional 100,000 metric tons of aluminum sheets for the automotive market. Furthermore, as another step forward in its commitment to deepen its capabilities in China, on February 4th, Novelis signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Zhenjiang Jingkou Industrial Zone, in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province. Novelis will invest approximately US$300 million to expand its automotive aluminum capabilities and recycling operations at its Zhenjiang plant.
