Novelis’ Ahuja Named to Manufacturers Association Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) announced that Devinder Ahuja, senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), Novelis Inc., has been named to the NAM Board of Directors. Ahuja will join the NAM Board to advance a manufacturing policy agenda that promotes growth and prosperity for all Americans.

Founded in 1895, the NAM, guided by its Board of Directors, is the largest industrial trade association in the United States with 14,000 members and is the nation’s most influential advocate for manufacturing. The NAM’s membership includes some of the world’s most iconic brands and many of the small manufacturers that power the U.S. economy. More than 90 percent of our members are small and medium-sized businesses.

The NAM is at the forefront of every important policy debate for manufacturers. Executives on the NAM Board, which comprises leaders representing companies of all sizes in every industrial sector, are the driving force behind the NAM’s advocacy efforts.

“I am honored to join the NAM Board to advocate policies that will ensure our continued growth and success as manufacturers,” said Ahuja. “Policymakers need to understand how their actions affect the more than 12 million men and women employed in manufacturing. I look forward to sharing my story and my experiences—along with the stories of Novelis and all manufacturers—to strengthen our economy and create more opportunities for working families.”

“Dev is a recognized and respected leader in our industry, and he will bring valuable insights to the NAM Board of Directors,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “Dev knows what it takes to succeed in a changing global economy and understands the kinds of solutions—like infrastructure investment, workforce development, immigration reform, trade expansion and regulatory relief—that we need to see from our elected leaders. With his voice and leadership, the NAM will be an even more effective advocate for our more than 12 million men and women who make things in America and for the industry that is the backbone of our exceptional country.”

In his role as senior vice president and CFO, Ahuja oversees all aspects of Novelis’ financial functions and activities, including accounting, treasury, global financial planning and analysis, global tax compliance, investor relations and finance excellence. During his tenure at the company, Ahuja has led Novelis through transactions to drive shareholder value and return on capital employed, including $4.5 billion of debt refinancing transactions and a key joint venture transaction in Asia.

Prior to joining Novelis in 2016, Ahuja served as CFO of Alcon U.S., a subsidiary of the global health care company Novartis. During his 15 years at Novartis, he held various positions of increasing responsibility and as CFO for several affiliate-led teams in the United States, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland and India. Before joining Novartis, Ahuja worked in the areas of accounting, controllership, business planning and strategic planning for a number of different companies.

In addition to serving on the NAM Board of Directors, Ahuja also serves on the Advisory Board of the Atlanta CFO Roundtable.

Ahuja holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai, India, and completed the general management program from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. In addition, Ahuja is a chartered accountant.
