"It is a tremendous honor to be selected by Platts as both the Company of the Year and the CEO of the Year across the full breadth of the metals industry," said Martens. "Being named Metals Company of the Year is the result of the dedication and hard work of our 11,000 employees across the globe, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each of them."

Novelis was selected as Metals Company of the Year from among 17 finalists in the aluminum; copper; raw materials and mining; scrap and recycling; and steel industries by the independent panel of judges.  The company was selected for its impressive transformation over the past two years, which has strengthened the company's focus on sustainability, recycling, technology and capital expansions. In late 2011, Novelis made a commitment to increase its recycled content from 33 percent to 80 percent by 2020. In less than two years, the company has reached 43 percent recycled content and is well on its way to achieving 80 percent by 2020. With recent recycling and rolling expansions totaling more than $1.5 billion, Novelis is poised to supply the growing demand for aluminum worldwide and has transformed itself into the global leader in delivering innovative, value-added aluminum products.

The panel also named Novelis President and CEO Philip Martens CEO of the Year. Since joining Novelis in 2009, Martens has executed a long-term strategic plan that has produced the company's most aggressive expansion in its history while simultaneously launching industry-leading sustainability and high-recycled content initiatives. In October 2012, Martens was named one of the top 25 CEOs in the World by Best Practice Institute.

Novelis also was honored as a finalist in four categories, including Industry Leadership Award – Aluminum; Innovative Technology of the Year Award for its creation of Novelis Flextreme™ Technology; Lifetime Achievement Award for Bob Wagstaff, Global Technology Leader, Molten Metal Processing; and End-User Efficiency Initiative of the Year in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).
