Novelis Appoints Jean-Marc Germain To Head North American Business

ATLANTA, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Novelis Inc. today announced that Jean-Marc Germain has been appointed president, Novelis North America, effective May 15, 2008. Mr. Germain will succeed Kevin Greenawalt who has elected retirement following a 25-year career with the company.

Mr. Germain is currently vice president Global Can for Novelis Inc., responsible for leading the company's strategy in the global beverage can market, and general manager of the Can Products business unit for Novelis North America. He has held this position since January 2007. Previously, Mr. Germain was vice president and general manager of Light Gauge Products for Novelis North America since 2004, and prior to that he held a number of senior positions with aluminum producers Alcan Inc. and Pechiney S.A., as well as international posts with GE Capital and Bain & Company.

"Jean-Marc has a broad background in the downstream aluminum industry, from beverage can and light gauge products to foil and specialty markets," said Martha Finn Brooks, president and chief operating officer for Novelis. Mr. Germain is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, France. He will continue to be based at the company's regional business office in Cleveland, Ohio.

Kevin Greenawalt will retire on May 31, 2008, following a long and distinguished career in the aluminum industry. Mr. Greenawalt was a member of the senior management team that guided Novelis through its spin-off from Alcan Inc. in 2005 and its eventual acquisition by Hindalco Industries Ltd. in 2007. Prior to the spin-off, he held a series of executive positions with Alcan in both North America and Europe since joining the company in 1983.

Mr. Greenawalt is also a member of the Board of Directors of Logan Aluminum, Inc., and has played a leadership role in the aluminum industry through his association involvement. He has been a Board member of The Aluminum Association since 2004 and has been chairman of its Executive Committee since October 2007. He has also been a director of the National Association of Manufacturers since 2007.
